Ex-Convicts
I just watch the show, “3 Good Guys”, a local film made by Jack Neo. On the whole, it talks about the life of a convict and what happens to them after they attain freedom.
Now, what touches me the most is the part where they are back to the society. Many prats of the story talks about reality that many ex-convicts encounter. Okay, i suppose i cant feel exactly like they do, but i can see that in many aspects, that’s life. And that’s how the society in Singapore works.
It seems like in Singapore, it’s truly difficult to get back to society once you’re out from the prisons. Here’s a quote from the movie, “The judge sentenced me for 10 years, but the Society gave a death sentence”. Upon hearing this, it is just so true, applying to the majority of the ex-convicts. I mean, we have to exclude some lucky ones.
But many do not get chance to even get a proper job. The main character was having extreme difficulties in his job and family. One thing for sure, he never gave up on his family. His wife waited for 10 years, along side bringing up their daughter. She’s the best wife there is. I think this sort of wife are rare. Right, let’s skip that. At many parts, her daughter are having difficulties in school dealing the fact that her dad is a ex criminal and she has to be mock. She said, “Dad can you not fetch me from school anymore?”
Tell me, how would he feel. My own daughter telling me this, after all these years. But we cant blame the girl right? She’s only 10. But at this point, even his wife told him, stay away from her at school. Heartbreaking. I think he receives and depend most on his wife, in terms of courage and support. So what’s that?!
Another one was back on track to his gambling habits again. I hate that, greed kills. Gambling too. One must have a strong will to control his greed. IF you can’t, then dont gamble. He ended up owing loanshocks monies and was force to do stupid yet desperate measures. End up back to square one.
Now, what i want to say is… all these i believe are so closely portrait to our reality, society. Especially Singapore, the society is still now so unforgiving to people who have criminal records, despite the recent campaigns.
The above is written to express my own views, within my own capacity. Feel free to comments.
Last words
This blog first started when i had a terrible cough, that is, if you still remember. That was on 24th of August 2004 A.D. It was a shift from my previous URL of wao_lao.blogspot.com. So it’s been 1 year and 2 months.
It’s been fun blogging, from Pinky Styke’s Voyage, to the pureStyke series. Okay, i know, i’m making it sound so professional thingy. As if this is a product. Lol~! Anyways, time is up, time not to blog anymore.
For the last few months, i feel the blog has defeat it’s purpose. The most well used part, of this blog is the tag board. I suppose what i wrote is not that important, as i don’t talk about much either. Plus, it’s getting more and more meaningless. After all, i’ve decide not to post personal things up some time back.
Well, i won’t remove the URL, so you guys can still use this as a portal, to others’ blog. If i’m not that lazy i might update the links. Oh, one more thing, the mp3 will be remove, for safety and bandwidth sake.
Thanks for reading, tagging and popping by.
