India’s Ayurveda
Just finish watching Discovery’s Hour Asia: Healers.
The documentary was about Ayurveda [say "iyoveda"]. For many of us who don’t know what Ayurveda is, here is a simple definition from Ayurvedic Foundations:
Ayurveda is a wholistic system of medicine from India that uses a constitutional model. Its aim is to provide guidance regarding food and lifestyle so that healthy people can stay healthy and folks with health challenges can improve their health.
Ayurveda is made up of two Sanskrit words: Ayu which means life and Veda which means the knowledge of. To know about life is Ayurveda.
It is a form of medicine that has a long history lu!
What was shown was amazing, kind of give me the impression like Traditional Chinese Medicine. The practioners can read about one’s body just by one’s pulse. They observe one’s skin, eye, tongue and color of nail to judge your state of health.
The thing is Western Medicine does look into those parts too, but the infomation it extracts are far less than Ayurveda. Treatments is done with oil, herbs and minerals. And with these, it is use to purge one’s body from toxins and aim to balance one’s Dosha.
TriDosha is made up of Pitta [ fire + water ] , Kapha [ earth + water ] and Vata [ space + air ]. And they are made of the five elements of nature, Fire, Water, Earth, Space and Air. Each of the Dosha govern various aspects of our body.
A healhy person is believed to have a balance Dosha.
Most of the infomation of Ayurveda is in Sanskrit. It is great to see that Western Medicine is looking into Ayurveda, just like TCM. These alternative treatments are have a rich history and have be proven to cure different illness. Treat with more efficiency, accuracy and some even treat what the Western can’t!
Go read about it lu! Here, start from Wikipedia!

Oh! Google is A M A Z I N G!!! i typed iyoveda initially, that’s is how it is pronounced + i didn’t know how to spell the real word. Google automatically corrected me and gave me this,

LOL!
Didn’t I Told You Before?!
Read an article in TODAY two days back,
What many of them haven’t realised is that their children, while not arguing with them, have perhaps stopped listening.
While the article is refering to how parents sex education haven’t been working at all. Most of the interviewed parents said things like, ‘just stay away from it’, to their kids. Now tell me what kind of education is this?
Now this doesn’t just apply to Sex Eds. Happens to me that when my parents are lecturing me, they don’t seem to care if i am listening to it or not. They just want to say it, and once they said it, they felt that you understood it.
There’s a scene in “I not stupid too”, a film by Jack Neo, that potrays this scenario. Aiya~! Forget the details le lu… nevermind.
So the thing is, it takes more than just the effort of saying this out of one’s mouth to allow the other part to understand. And sometimes when children don’t bother to react to parents lecturing, there might be a problem you know?
